“La vie c’est comme la bicyclette: quand on arrête de pédaler on tombe.”

-Albert Einstein

Blind, I traversed the streets

Begging at night, like a starving dog

Scraps of rancid meat

Always hungry

Jacaranda trees are in full bloom

You pick one for me

I save the petite flower, delicate and easily crushed, it survives

A breeze, a walk, a wet jean pocket

Two dragonflies dance together across the sky

Nuzzle me in the sunshine

I can see

“The sun, the bright sun, that brings back, not light alone, but new life, and hope, and freshness to man–burst upon the crowded city in clear and radiant glory.  Through costly-coloured glass and paper-mended window, through cathedral dome and rotten crevice, it shed its equal ray.”  -Charles Dickens, Oliver Twist
